Karma Chief Records (a division of Colemine Records) is proud to present an explosive disco 45, featuring two essential tracks from Say She She's new album, Cut & Rewind. The New York punk-chic and disco-funk band made a grand return last October with their third studio album. It's a politically charged record, made for the dance floor, driven by the powerful vocal trio of Piya Malik, Sabrina Mileo Cunningham, and Nya Gazelle Brown. Side A, "Cut & Rewind," the title track, is a female post-punk and funk song, elevated by the band's captivating harmonies and an irresistible funk bassline. The song is primarily autobiographical, but it also subtly pays homage to legendary songwriters. The band recently performed Side B, "Disco Life," live on Jimmy Kimmel. This upbeat and rhythmic track denounces the racism and homophobia of Steve Dahl's "Disco Demolition Night" (1979), and reaffirms that the dance floor is "a playground where everyone is free."
