The rise of Saxon continues in 1984 with the album "Crusader", whose writing as well as production lean towards a more "mainstream" metal. Right from the start, the title track ranks among the best compositions of the band, notably thanks to its catchy chorus, while the excellent "A Little Bit of What You Fancy" quickly follows suit. Wisely placed at the heart of the album, "Sailing to America" shines with its melody and gives the whole a certain balance. Further on, "Do it all for you" reminds us that metal has always been able to give birth to enchanting, weightless ballads, before the dark "Run for your lives" comes to set things right and punctuates this very beautiful opus with rage.
