Rebel extravaganza (1999 reissue)

Description

It was the dawn of a new millennium - and even more so for the black metal pioneers Satyricon - who were ready to experience probably the most revolutionary evolution of their career. After the release of Nemesis Divina (1996), Satyr and Frost withdrew for three years, only to return in the fall of 1999 in a state of absolute delirium. Rebel Extravaganza proved to be more than an appropriate title and broke down all genre boundaries with a first progressive ten-minute excerpt titled 'Tied in Bronze Chains'. Supported by renowned guests like Fenriz (Darkthrone) and Snorre Ruch (Thorns), the Norwegians launched a revolutionary and experimental masterpiece that combines frantic black metal with industrial elements, prog, synthesizers, and breathtaking time signatures. The album became the main source of inspiration for a myriad of upcoming experimental black metal bands and the birth of a new Satyricon era. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of this revolutionary release, the album has been remastered and will be reissued by Napalm Records.
