Refuge Denied

Description

Refuge Denied (1987) is the first album by the Seattle thrash metal band Sanctuary. Initially spotted by Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, the band recorded two albums for Epic before disbanding shortly after. Mustaine produced Refuge Denied brilliantly. Its sonic recipe relies on excellent guitar riffs by Lenny Rutledge and Sean Blosl, accompanied by the aggressive and melodic vocals of Warrel Dane and the punchy bass lines of Jim Sheppard. It even features a cover of "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane. Refuge Denied served as a springboard for the excellent follow-up album, Into The Mirror Black. Dane and Sheppard would later form Nevermore, a flagship prog metal band. Refuge Denied is available in a limited edition of 1000 numbered copies on translucent blue vinyl, with an insert containing the lyrics.
