Sametou Sawtan - Vinyle 180Gr

Description

The Lebanese sextet SANAM returns with Sametou Sawtan ("I Heard a Voice"), a incandescent second album blending psychedelic rock, free jazz, noise electronics, and Arab traditions. Produced by Radwan Ghazi Moumneh (Jerusalem In My Heart), this record embodies the vibrant spirit of Beirut while quietly mourning a country in internal exile. Recorded between Paris and a medieval house in Byblos, Sametou Sawtan explores estrangement – that of those who leave, and that felt even by those who stay. The lyrics, drawn from classical Arabic poetry (Omar Khayyam) or contemporary works (Paul Shaoul), sit alongside original words by singer Sandy Chamoun, sung with an almost incantatory intensity. Between haunted ballads like "Goblin" and the feverish ascents of "Harik" or "Tatayoum," SANAM blurs boundaries and asserts its unique identity: a free, hybrid, and frontal music, both rooted and visionary. A powerful record that gives voice to those who refuse to be silenced. 180g vinyl edition.
