Complete Recordings

Description

THIS EXCEPTIONAL BOX SET IN TRIBUTE TO SAMSON FRANÇOIS OFFERS THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS. INCLUDED: A DVD OF THE REMARKABLE DOCUMENTARY FILM FROM 1998 WRITTEN BY HIS SON MAXIMILIEN. ALL ALBUMS ARE PRESENTED WITH THEIR ORIGINAL COVERS. Disappeared 50 years ago, on October 22, 1970, Samson François remains one of the most unique pianists the musical world has ever known, having left a lasting impression with his extraordinary freedom of tone and his eminently personal interpretations, not to mention his nocturnal character and his attraction to jazz music. He enjoyed a popularity in France that has never been seen again for a pianist, and his premature death definitively cast him into legend. This tribute box set presents the entirety of his recordings in 54CD+1DVD, and includes substantial additions compared to the previous 2010 edition, starting with the highly anticipated unreleased recital from June 1970 at the Nohant festival (the place where Chopin lived), as well as a recital at the Nissay Theatre in Tokyo in 1969, but also a DVD of the remarkable documentary film from 1998 written by his son Maximilien. All albums are presented with their original covers. An exceptional box set!
