SECOND ALBUM FROM THE FRENCH FOLK CROONER
A BREATH OF FRESH AIR FROM THE WIDE-OPEN SPACES
Haunted and instinctive, Sammy Decoster has been quietly pursuing his career since the late 2000s, carving out his niche of folk songs. From a recent road trip in the desert, the crooner has brought back a suitcase full of songs and this long-awaited second album, recorded live with members of Arizonan Howe Gelb's Giant Sand and visiting friends. There's something wonderfully old-fashioned about these songs captured on magnetic tape, but our hero cherishes retro codes enough to intelligently break free from them and surprise us with frantic gallops. Between languid ballads and rock & roll swerves, *Sortie 21* makes us furiously want to lovingly conquer wild territories.
