It's 1960 and *The Wonderful World Of Sam Cooke* is Sam Cooke's sixth and final record for the Keen Records label, before he signed with RCA, which already boasted the biggest-selling artist in Elvis Presley. This LP features eleven of the singer's previously released singles, to which the record company added a track recorded during a 1959 session. While the singer enjoyed incredible and early success in gospel, both with the Singing Children and the Soul Stirrers, it's undeniable that he brought a breath of fresh air to Black music in the late fifties, being among the first to win over a white audience, and largely contributing to the spread of Soul Music. During his three years with Keen, Cooke combined a kind of fusion that blended romantic ballads, tunes from Jazz or popular music, and not forgetting touches of gospel.
