L yéyé era is long gone, but the performer of "Tombe la neige" (1963) is still on stage, in the spotlight and with a repertoire spanning five decades, and not on a tour like Âge tendre et tête de bois. Nostalgia is still somewhat present with Salvatore Adamo, who easily reflects, with the experience that age gives him (72 years), on his most carefree years. He jokes with Joyce Jonathan, who plays the role of his daughter in the exquisite "De père à fille," reproaching him for his musician boyfriend... ("Yes dad, I love a vagabond / Who will never have a penny in the bank / You worked hard all your life to pay for your furniture on credit"). In "Les jours passent," the tone becomes more introspective, without turning to gravity. Melancholy is also present with the poetic "Des mots dans le vent," with a sober and classic arrangement by Andrew Powell, like the other songs on the album produced by Jo Francken, which gives a beautiful musical color to the whole. The acoustic accompaniment, sometimes intimate, sometimes orchestral, is never overloaded. An electronic layer even underlies "Je viens de plus loin." What stands out most from "L'Amour n'a jamais tort" is the feeling of youth it conveys, starting with the opening title, "Chantez." The performer, with a beautifully raspy voice, just like at twenty, leads these thirteen pieces with a certain mischief at the corner of his lips. With great charm, lightness, and a touch of self-deprecation, Adamo enchants on "Ho'oponopono," "...Et pourtant elle même," and "Lola & Bruno (L'amour n'a jamais tort)." A success.
