Sahra Halgan is an iconic artist from Somaliland, a territory located in the north of Somalia, effectively independent since 1991 after a terrible civil war. Very young, engaged in the war for independence as a nurse and artist, her songs earned her the status of an icon of freedom. Sahra had to go into exile in Europe. It is in Lyon, where she lived for nearly 20 years, that she met French musicians Aymeric Krol and Maël Salètes. The trio's desire is to make her culture known to the world, the sufferings and joys of her people, in a raw and unadorned musical form.
