After writing songs for the Beach Boys and producing albums for the Byrds, Gary Usher launched his own studio project. Curt Boettcher, from the band The Millennium, became an essential collaborator, producing two tracks and writing seven. The group also benefited from the contributions of personalities such as Bruce Johnston (Beach Boys) and Glen Campbell, which helped make this album a unique and cult record. The single "The World Fell Down" was a great success, reaching the lower end of the Billboard Hot 100. Thanks to this success, the album became a true classic. Fans still consider it an essential album of the 1960s Los Angeles music scene, and it appears on the iconic 1972 compilation "Nuggets." "Present Tense" is a limited edition of 1,000 individually numbered copies, pressed on orange vinyl.
