With their unpredictable live performances and songs like "Zurück zum Beton" and "Industriemädchen", S.Y.P.H. caused a sensation in the late 1970s - as one of the groups that began writing lyrics in German around the Ratinger Hof in Düsseldorf. From the start, the band broke with the conformist expectations of the genre and drew inspiration from rock, punk, and kraut as much as from Dadaism and the reality of everyday life. After the first album and several singles (reissued on Tapete Records in December 2024), the band produced two more albums - Pst and S.Y.P.H. (album 4) - with Holger Czukay of CAN. Tapete Records is now releasing both albums and a collection of unreleased rarities - Punkraut 1978-1981.
