The meeting between the creator of New Conception Of Jazz and the rhythm section of the Esbjörn Svensson Trio (E.S.T.) The two iconic Scandinavian jazz formations of the 21st century, E.S.T. and New Conception of Jazz, join forces in the trio Rymden. Bugge Wesseltoft thus reunites with Magnus Öström and Dan Berglund (partners of the late Esbjörn Svensson), for a first album, Reflections And Odysseys. E.S.T. and New Conception Of Jazz have always been, above all, groups of explorers, experimenters testing the limits of existing forms while trying to break new musical ground. With the creation of Rymden ("space" in Swedish), we see a music resolutely rooted in Scandinavian culture blossoming before us. But this is Scandinavian jazz far from the clichés of the genre: it is music driven by a rugged dynamic, a complex but attractive playing technique, an epic and cinematic sound loaded with drama, tension, and release.
