Rusan Filiztek takes Kurdish music on a journey, from Mesopotamia to AndalusiaA player of the saz, the long-necked lute of Asia Minor, a singer and musicologist, Rusan Filiztek has traveled extensively through music, from his native Anatolia to the Istanbul of his adolescence, then to Iraq and Syria, whose music he explored, before arriving in Europe via Andalusia and heading to Paris. For his album Exils, he has surrounded himself with flamenco guitarist François Aria, percussionist Juan Manuel Cortes, Celtic flutist Sylvain Barou, Armenian duduk player Artyom Minasyan, violist Marie-Suzanne de Loye, Greek singer Dafné Kritharas, flamenco singer Cécile Evrot, and jazz bassists Leila Soldevila and Emrah Kaptan. A very beautiful book-and-CD set, as only Accords Croisés knows how to produce.
