«In Session» is the new album by Rumer, a platinum-selling artist and MOJO Award winner. After moving to the United States for a time, Rumer began working on a studio project to celebrate the work of Joni Mitchell. It was then that she collaborated for the first time with the London funk band Redtenbacher's Funkestra, the original and primarily instrumental jazz funk collective made up of world-class players who have previously worked with esteemed musicians such as Brand New Heavies, Cory Wong (Vulfpeck), and Andy Snitzer (Paul Simon).Thanks to new musical arrangements that emerged during their joint work, the idea of presenting an « In Session » record was born. Gathered at James Welch's Masterlink Studios, songs like the soul singles « Slow » and « Aretha » were re-recorded here with Redtenbacher's Funkestra band to offer a timeless collection for seasoned fans as well as newcomers.
