{"product_id":"rudolf-buchbinder_the-diabelli-project_2020_uni","title":"The Diabelli project","description":"Rudolf Buchbinder, a great specialist of Beethoven, unveils his first album made in collaboration with Deutsche Grammophon. For Beethoven's 250th anniversary, Buchbinder presents his interpretation of the sublime 33 Diabelli Variations by the composer, followed by Diabelli's 'Waltz in C Major'. For the second part of the album, the pianist invited 12 contemporary composers, including Krzysztof Penderecki, Rodion Shchedrin, Brett Dean, Max Richter, Jörg Widmann, Toshio Hosokawa, Lera Auerbach, Brad Lubman, Philippe Manoury, Johannes Maria Staud, and Tan Dun to write their own variations on the theme of Diabelli. These new commissions from Buchbinder echo the original history of the variations. In 1819, the music publisher and composer Anton Diabelli wrote a 'Deutscher' (or German waltz) of 32 measures and sent it to more than 50 Austrian composers, asking each of them to write a variation on his original theme. The commission caused a stir, but Beethoven refused to participate, considering the theme banal. However, he would send his 33 variations 4 years later, a composition that turned out to be the last large-scale piano work completed by the composer. Buchbinder concludes this album with his interpretation of the variations by the other composers who participated in this commission, including Carl Czerny, Franz Schubert, Franz Xaver, son of Mozart, Johann Nepomuk Hummel, and Franz Liszt.","brand":"Rudolf Buchbinder","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57592991809880,"sku":null,"price":20200306.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/rudolf-buchbinder_the-diabelli-project_2020_uni","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
