From A Compound Eye was Robert Pollard's first solo album after the dissolution of Guided By Voices in 2004 and his most critically acclaimed. When things stopped for GBV, he promised it didn't mean the end of his career. It was in fact a new beginning. Leaving his band (and Matador Records) allowed him to record when he wanted, what he wanted, and with whom he wanted. This double LP reissue with a gatefold sleeve, originally released on Merge Records in 2006, includes fantastic songs such as "Dancing Girls and Dancing Men," "I'm a Widow," "Love Is Stronger Than Witchcraft," and "I'm A Strong Lion."
