King Of The Delta Blues Singers

Description

The legendary Robert Johnson was the first modern bluesman, developing Delta blues in the 1930s. His life came to a premature and mysterious end in 1938, at the age of 27. By the late 1950s, he had become a mythical figure. Some had heard of him, but few had listened to his music, and everything changed when this essential album, "King of the Delta Blues Singers", was compiled and released by Columbia in 1961. The album contains sixteen mono recordings originally recorded during two sessions in 1936 and 1937, and which sparked a new generation's interest in Delta blues. It is also the first album to be inducted by the Blues Foundation into the "Blues Hall of Fame", and, in 2007, Mojo magazine ranked it number 6 on its list of "100 records that changed the world". Includes 2 bonus tracks: "I Believe I'll Dust My Broom" and the classic "Sweet Home Chicago".
