Rob Zombie and Waxwork Records are joining forces to offer an exclusive collection of cult horror film soundtracks. "Rob Zombie Presents" will bring together several previously unreleased titles, personally selected by the singer, composer, and director. "I've always been a huge fan of movie soundtracks. Starring Bela Lugosi, WHITE ZOMBIE (1932) is considered the first zombie film. Shot at Universal Studios, it used many props from other horror films of the era. Starring Madge Bellamy, Robert W. Frazer, and John Harron, the film follows characters grappling with zombies, love, obsession, and betrayal. Initially poorly received by critics upon its release, the film has been re-evaluated and praised by recent critics for its status as a genre classic. It has influenced popular culture, even going so far as to inspire the name of the band White Zombie. Rob Zombie said of the film: "It's a great, underrated film. I'm amazed that a film so easily accessible can be so forgotten."After successfully collaborating on the release of soundtracks for Rob Zombie's films such as House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, 3 From Hell, The Lords of Salem, Halloween 1 and 2, and The Munsters, Zombie explored other avenues of collaboration with Waxwork to unearth, remaster, and reissue cult and offbeat horror film soundtracks from films he particularly loves. This soundtrack collection offers a deluxe box set, high-quality colored vinyl, new artwork by Graham Humphreys, a renowned horror illustrator, as well as liner notes and interviews conducted by Rob Zombie with the directors and actors. Titles include first editions of Spider Baby, Carnival of Souls, The Last Man on Earth, The House on Haunted Hill, Island of Lost Souls, and a selection of films from the HAMMER catalog.
