For its 35th anniversary, BMG is reissuing Rick Astley's debut album 'Whenever You Need Somebody' as a 2CD deluxe edition. Produced by Stock Aitken Waterman, 'Whenever You Need Somebody' reached number one in the UK (also topping the charts in many other countries) and features the hit singles "Never Gonna Give You Up", "Together Forever", "Whenever You Need Somebody", and the Nat King Cole cover "When I Fall In Love". All four songs reached the top 3 of the UK singles chart, but of course, "Never Gonna Give You Up" was absolutely huge, hitting number one practically everywhere, including Britain, America, Canada, Australia, and across Europe. Rick has always been popular in America, and "Together Forever" also topped the US singles chart. The album has been remastered at Abbey Road, and this new deluxe edition was created with input from Astley. It features 21 bonus tracks, including original remixes, B-sides, and Rick's own "reimagined" versions of the album's original singles (first released on the 2019 Best of Me compilation). The double CD also comes with an expanded booklet that includes previously unseen photographs of Rick from 1987-1988 and liner notes written by Craig McLean, with contributions from Rick, Mike Stock, and Pete Waterman.
