RHUM RHAPSODIES (vinyl) + ON THE ROCKS (45T)

Description

Since 2012, The Rhum Runners have been getting together to revive an exotic and adventurous rock'n'roll, a technicolor soundtrack for a smuggling or striptease movie. The setting: Saigon, Caracas, Islamabad, or Trinidad... Already well known in Tours, Limoges, and Toulouse, their home ports, but also in Pau or at the Cosmic Trip in Bourges, the crew is preparing to set sail for Belgium, soon Italy, then the rest of the world. On land, they experiment with new cocktails or record their adventures. After several obscure demos, the following are now available: A CD (self-produced), "Another Exotic Journey with The Rhum Runners," March 2015, 14 tracks. A 45-rpm record, "On The Rocks?", released in May 2015. And today, a 33-rpm record, "Rhum Rhapsodies." The Rhum Runners play Exotica rock'n'roll. This music, produced in striptease clubs during the 50s/60s in the United States, is essentially composed of blues, rock, and jazz, playing Afro-Cuban, Arabic, or Asian themes... These seven sailors, having traveled the four corners of the globe, draw their music from the sound of tropical rhythms.
