The commissioner of "Orfeo", azione teatrale, original version created in Italian at the Burgtheater in Vienna on October 5, 1762, had sensed the abilities of Gluck and Calzabigi to take the reflection on opera much further than their predecessors had done. The interpretation that René Jacobs was able to give in concert with an exceptional cast was received enthusiastically, as it powerfully restores the extraordinary emotional power of the original score.
