Rednex was founded 25 years ago. The name is a phonetic distortion of the word rednecks, which literally means "red neck." A redneck is a resident of the southern United States, living in a rural area, with a neck reddened by the sun. Translated into French, this gives "plouc" or "bouseux" (not very nice!). In the 90s, the group released hits like Cotton Eye Joe, The Spirit of the Hawk, and Wish You Were Here.
