Raoul Vignal is often identified by his guitar playing (subtle arpeggios and finger-picking) and his singing, imbued with a luminous melancholy. His songwriting talents are sometimes overlooked. Like Impressionist painters, he captures and draws inspiration from the atmosphere of his daily life. His nomadic compositions are as much stories as postcards. The creation of his new album, Shadow Bands, is set against the backdrop of his return to Lyon, his hometown, a decade after leaving it. A new journey through time (subtly accompanied on drums by Lucien Chatin's rhythms), Shadow Bands features that stripped-back quality and crystalline poetry that subtly yet preciously permeates us.
