Sur le sixth album of Radiator Hospital, Distorting Time, Sam Cook-Parrott does not play the nostalgia card; he deliberately avoids it. Over the course of fifteen years, he has evolved RH from a solo project recorded in his bedroom to a full-fledged rock'n'roll quartet, brushing against mainstream success while forging a reputation as a true outsider in the DIY scene. Distorting Time - his first album on Lame-O Records - consists of 13 tracks recorded on a 4-track tape machine at Sam's, with some additional touches captured at Jeff Zeigler's Uniform Recording studio in Philadelphia. Both gently familiar and surprisingly distinct, this album operates within the limits imposed by the 4-track setup while drawing inspiration from bands like Young Marble Giants and Tall Dwarfs. Thematically, the songs explore the strange sensation of time passing, particularly through the prism of an artist and their work.
