Description

Upon Kyuss's separation in 1995, Queens Of The Stone Age took shape at the initiative of Josh Homme, who was grandly preparing what would be his next band. To do this, he surrounded himself with a small pack of musicians already well-established on the Rock/Stoner scene, such as drummer Matt Cameron (Soundgarden / Pearl Jam), bassist Van Conner (Screaming Trees), and guitarist John McBain (Monster Magnet). All these talented individuals came together for an EP definitively marking the end of Kyuss, featuring tracks recorded before their separation and the first songs by QOTSA. The "miracle" finally occurred in 1998 with the release of Queens Of The Stone Age's debut album, for which Josh Homme had already begun major maneuvers, parting ways with McBain and Cameron to turn to an old acquaintance from his Kyuss years, drummer Alfredo Hernandez. Welcomed as it should be by the microcosm of "Stoner Rock" enthusiasts, it didn't take long for Josh Homme and his bandmates to do it again 2 years later with the massive "Rated R," which definitively enthroned Queens Of The Stone Age as the undisputed masters of the genre, a position left vacant by Kyuss. Released in 2000, "Rated R" is Queens Of The Stone Age's second album, with bassist Nick Oliveri joining and actively participating in the creation of this classic of the genre. Between haunting melodies and rhythmic power, this album definitively lays the groundwork for what would become the sound of the "Stoner Rock" masters. Relive the energy of Queens Of The Stone Age on this 180-gram vinyl reissue and immerse yourself in the raw power of an album that propelled the band to become a sure bet.
