Greatest Hits II

Description

Greatest Hits II extends the success of its predecessor, which had already sold millions of copies, by ten years. It compiles Queen's international singles from "Under Pressure" (1981) to "The Show Must Go On" (1991), covering five studio albums. The 17 tracks are the same in all regions, unlike the first Greatest Hits which had territorial variations. Hits II is a double album, while the first volume was generally a single disc. It was released almost exactly ten years after the first, on October 28, 1991, less than a month before Freddie Mercury's passing on November 24. Like its predecessor, Hits II reached the top of the UK charts and became the tenth best-selling album in history in the UK, with over 4 million copies sold and nearly 19 million worldwide. The cover concept features an adaptation of the crest designed by Freddie in the 1970s, inspired by the astrological signs of the four band members: two lions for the Leos (Roger and John), a crab for Cancer (Brian May), and a fairy for Freddie, Virgo.
