Description
They seized these scores with astonishing determination and creativity. Following these concerts, they commissioned me the third quartet, which naturally concludes this triptych. These first three quartets actually form a single work that unfolds a common material in different ways. The fourth quartet is also the result of a commission from the Tana Quartet. It introduces electronics through the addition of a magnetic tape. Its microtonal language is rather calm and, at times, even contemplative.
