« Beethoven around the world »: This unique project by the Quatuor Ebène finds its source in the universality of Beethoven's music: his quest for brotherhood, the place given to nature, as well as his modernity. Its genesis dates back to 2014 when Carnegie Hall in New York invited the Quatuor Ebène to perform the complete string quartets of Beethoven in 2020 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of his birth. This invitation sparked the desire to play this music around the world and for, as the Ode to Joy says, all humanity. From April 2019 to January 2020, the Quartet travels the world for about forty concerts in 18 countries and on 6 continents. This world tour benefits from a carbon offset program focused on reforestation. The first volume released today was recorded live in Vienna to preserve all the sap and fervor nourished by the presence of the audience.
