PowerSolo already had a few decades under their belt when they went down to a barn on the island of Mon to record their 9th album: Jambalaya - Xtra Spicy. The concept was clear: to cook up a crazy stew with all the ingredients the fanbase knows and loves. Like the aforementioned albums, as well as the hit album The Real Sound released in 2014, Jambalaya - Xtra Spicy was recorded, mixed, and produced by Ulrik Petersen and Jesper Reginal (aka The Great Nalna and Yebo of The Tremolo Beer Gut infamy) at Dark Side of The Moon / Kondi Frost Studios. The musical team consisted of frontman Kim Kix and his right-hand man Anders "Peasoup" Pedersen. Drums were alternately provided by former PowerSolo member JC Benz and Mike "ZACK" Sullivan, who is the band's touring drummer. A pinch of South American spice was added by Flavia Couri (leader of The Courettes) on the duet "If I Could Fly." Every dish also deserved a little French sweetness. These were added on "She's A Trucker" by none other than Phoebe Killdeer (Nouvelle Vague, Phoebe Killdeer & The Short Straws). Kix produced and participated in the recordings of Couri and Killdeer, and they were both happy to take a seat at the table of this feast that is Jambalaya - Xtra Spicy.
