Plains presents its debut album: a world of sunsets, wide open spaces, and nature. Plains was born from Crutchfield and Williamson's mutual love for each other's music, after they swapped albums (Saint Cloud and Sorceress, respectively) in early 2020. Feeling it was time for a distinct project that could reflect another facet of her creative inspirations, Katie felt Jess was the perfect candidate for a collaboration, and they embarked on creating I Walked With You A Ways. This is characteristic of country music; these are bands that form out of family and friendship, and whose lyrics take their listeners on a journey of pain and hope. Crutchfield’s truth-telling honesty, coupled with Williamson’s ability to paint the scene with candles, plains, sunsets and small-town Texas is one of the strongest parts of this album.
