Keyboards and percussion, two worlds that make an orchestra.
Alongside the Trio and the Medium Ensemble, two formations he works with the obsession of a sound as acoustic as possible, Pierre de Bethmann had the idea of a four-member formation with a wide sound spectrum.
Starting from simple ideas, developed in successive sequences, the pianist / keyboardist / vocalist / whistler surrounds himself with an alter ego and a percussive tandem, whose agility and abundance of ideas were decisive, and thus exploits all the resources of a multi-faceted harmonic instrumentation, and a multitude of rhythmic combinations.
Between the energy of numerous grooves, the twisting of many sounds, and the serene and deliberate installation of calm moments, the Shifters offer a range of climates reflecting a world in constant questioning and re-creation.
Eight compositions, a standard mischievously twisted by the collective energy… 52 minutes experienced as a jubilant moment out of the ordinary, all recorded in 2014 at the end of a residency at L’apostrophe, national stage of Cergy-Pontoise, whose release was initially planned on the label Plus Loin… .. and which turns out to be the fifth complete production of the Alea label.
