'Upwards, the Crimes I Committed' is the twentieth album by Phil Maggi, the result of five years of work, conceived between 2019 and 2024, a period marked by the relative calm of the pandemic and an intense creative immersion: paintings, drawings, and in-depth readings of Iranian Islamic spirituality (notably the Illuminationist philosophy of Sohrawardi and Henry Corbin's concept of the Imaginal). This work was carried out at his home and in several studios: La Rouille (Liège), Koko-Studios (Sprimont), Le LaboratoireCentral (Brussels), and his own studio, Iva Bedlam Studios.The music blends varied sonorities, familiar to the composer's universe (ambient-atmospheric, soundscapes and free jazz, with a touch of musique concrète). In this singular space, Maggi gathered a circle of collaborators and artists sharing his artistic vision: Catherine Graindorge, Roxane Leuridan (Ensemble Hopper), Pavel Tchikov (Ogives, Sopa Boba), Zoé Pireaux, Marie Billy (Ogives), Pascal Di Pinto, Gabriel Marguerie and HP Desrosiers (Zääär).
