With the participation of Emoke Barath and Philippe Jaroussky.'Il Boemo', a film by Petr Vaclav, is a historical biopic about the Czech composer Josef Myslivecek, a forgotten genius of the 18th century who inspired Mozart.Despite immense success throughout Italy and the European courts of his time, he fell into obscurity for nearly 250 years.The film honors this great opera composer (over 80 operas written) by telling his life story and recording his previously unpublished works for the first time, all conducted by Vaclav Luks and featuring some of the greatest European voices of today, from Philippe Jaroussky to Emoke Barath.Composers who wanted to achieve the greatest glory and success in the 1760s had to make their mark in the field of Italian serious opera: \"opera seria.\" At that time, it was the most prestigious and dazzling musical genre, accompanying spectacular social events and enjoying the support of the most prominent European nobles and ecclesiastical dignitaries.Myslivecek's operas were performed before royal families to mark important events in their lives and featured the most famous singers of the era, such as Caterina Gabrielli, Luigi Marchesi, and Anton Raaff. His most successful operas include Bellerofonte, Il gran Tamerlano, Romolo ed Ersilia, L'Olimpiade, and Adriano in Siria.Myslivecek composed his operas based on the favorite librettos of the time. One of the most popular authors associated with opera seria was the poet Pietro Metastasio, who wrote sixteen of the librettos for Myslivecek's twenty-six operas. The plots of these operas are set in distant regions or ancient times and feature, for example, Roman emperors and commanders or ancient rulers as heroes. Opera plots also frequently drew inspiration from classical Greek myths. In addition to opera, Myslivecek also wrote successful oratorios, religious musical dramas on biblical themes.Myslivecek composed eight oratorios in seven years, but only the scores of four of them have been preserved to this day: Tobia, Adamo ed Eva, La passione di Gesù Cristo, and Isacco, figura del redentore. The last mentioned oratorio is one of the greatest highlights of Myslivecek's work and was in the past mistakenly attributed to Wolfgang Mozart.The most prestigious genre in the field of instrumental music in the 1760s and 1770s was the symphony. Myslivecek was one of the leading symphonic authors of his time and was undoubtedly the best among his contemporaries in Italy. His instrumental compositions also include, for example, exceptional violin concertos, string quartets and quintets, oboe quintets, and wind octets.","brand":"Philippe Jaroussky","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57538721055064,"sku":null,"price":20230623.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/philippe-jaroussky_il-boemo_2023_war","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
