Pennines used a clean guitar sound, without distortion or effects, and a DIY recording approach, aiming for a natural rendition of the songs. The downtempo, meditative coda of \"Collapsing New Buildings\" perfectly illustrates Pennines' sonic signature, as does the mesmerizing guitar work in the middle of \"Pilot Holes,\" two tracks that also feature rhythmic and punchy passages, demonstrating the band's ability to balance energy and subtlety.
