Before she became Peaches, Merril Nisker flitted from folk to avant-jazz, with a stop in punk. A Canadian expat in Germany, she largely followed the artistic and geographical path of her friend and collaborator Gonzales. With her trusty Roland Groovebox 505, she concocted a kind of salacious hip-hop-electro-punk, not unlike the excesses of Karen Finley and the Yeastie Girls. Because Peaches talks about sex throughout this debut album (from "Fuck the Pain Away" to "Diddle my Skittle").
