Patxi Garat is a French author, composer, and performer born in the Basque Country in 1981. After a notable appearance on the show Star Academy in 2003, he signed with the independent label Atmosphériques. Patxi released two albums there, "S’embrasser" and "Amour Carabine," as well as an EP titled "Quitter la France." In 2013, he joined the "Troupe à Palmade" as an actor and performed in numerous plays from this company ("L’entreprise" in 2013, and "Le Miracle" in 2017). Starting in 2014, Patxi began writing for many artists, including Louane, for whom he wrote several songs (including "Jour 1"). In 2021, he recorded an album of covers of French songs in Basque. "As a child, we only spoke Basque at home, at school, in the village. The only French words I heard came from the television or the radio. The French language was a foreign language to me, the language of the city, of the outside. It was literature, poetry, and song that made me love it and inspired me to become a writer and singer. In a way, Gainsbourg, Souchon, Christophe, Brel, Brassens, and so many others became my teachers. I spent hours and hours in my room, entire nights even, deciphering guitar sheets, carefully copying the lyrics of songs into notebooks, and singing them, always singing them. It was during the lockdown, in this return to oneself, that I unconsciously began to sing these songs - which I have always loved, always sung - in my mother tongue. And it became obvious. This album is a tribute to the songs that shape my life, and singing them in Basque is a way for me to connect them to my roots."
