Patterson Hood’s first solo album in over a decade grew out of a friendship with producer Chris Funk (The Decemberists). The two would often play together for fun and during Hood’s solo tours, making distant plans to record a record together. Eventually, they went into Jackpot Studios in Portland. Most of the songs were composed on piano, making this more of a departure from his work with the Drive-By Truckers than his prior solo efforts. Guests include Waxahatchee, Wednesday, and Lydia Loveless.
