Description

The trio that combines the clarinet with the piano and cello forms an ensemble with powerful and multiple expressive qualities that has not left the composers of the 20th and 21st centuries indifferent. Composed in a kaleidoscopic form, as the first piece suggests, the original program of this record takes us through a sound gallery scattered with unheard objects where daydreaming and nostalgia are filtered through modern languages. Pianist Fabrizio Chiovetta and clarinetist Patrick Messina leave the Schumann universe of their previous opus to explore with cellist Henri Demarquette the scores of Arvo Pärt and the lesser-known but no less sensitive Jaan Rääts and Henryck Górecki. The first of the three, inspired by one of Mozart's most touching works (the Andante amoroso from the piano sonata, K.281), offers here an unprecedented arrangement. Replacing the violin with the clarinet, Arvo Pärt colors this delicate three-way conversation with the subtle and velvety timbre of the wind instrument.
