1988: Patricia becomes "the Kaas phenomenon": her songs Mon mec à moi and Mademoiselle chante le blues become the anthems of the 90s. 1998: Patricia Kaas reigns supreme over the world of song and wins 6 Victoires de la Musique. She inspires millions of fans all over the world. At the beginning of the 21st century, Patricia is the most listened-to French artist in the world. 2008: After selling 16 million albums in more than 47 countries, Patricia returns to the shadows of the studios and under the spotlights of packed concert halls. She sits down at the work table and, with her astonishing talent, gives us her cabaret, an unprecedented show, her passionate and personal homage to the 1930s. At a time when music is losing its direct relationship with the artist through downloading and the virtual world, Patricia Kaas puts her stage performance back at the center of her work. An artist with an irresistible presence, Patricia creates 12 tracks for the stage, proving that music is above all an emotional medium, an art to be shared with others. Songs from the repertoire and new songs... here Kurt Weil greets Django, there tango dancers glide across the floor with a light step, and there one thinks of Garbo and Gabrielle Chanel... This is the cabaret, Patricia Kaas's new experience, her universe that she finally reveals to the public, her truth! Yes, her truth, because Cabaret is indeed the most personal work of this astonishing performer. Let's go! Everyone knows the phrase "Welcome to the cabaret!" This unique show is more than just a presentation of songs; it is a jewel with new songs and interpretations of the most famous titles of this great artist. More than 20 songs and surprises make Kabaret one of the most successful and elegant variety shows ever presented on stage. A fantastic journey through the cabaret of the 1930s: here is Buenos Aires and its tango, updated by Brifo, the man from La Yellow, who already accompanied the music of Gotan Project with electro; here is Paris and its dazzling gypsy swing, now played by Caravan Palace; Michel Cusson, the brilliant jazzman from Uzeb, guides you through Berlin and its smoky cellars... Enjoy this tribute to Patricia's heroines: Suzy Solidor, Martha Graham, Greta Garbo... The photographic design comes from Solve Sundsbo, the brilliant photographer of the Saint Laurent, Bally and Gucci campaigns, the man from Numéro, whose influence on the image in the world is undeniable. This is indeed cabaret! The tour was arranged and directed by her faithful companion Frédéric Helbert, then the representative of the French music scene characterized by the best taste. Surrounded by great talents from contemporary dance, the opera world, the electro scene and song, the beauty returns with a capital K. The sets were designed by Christophe Martin, set designer for the Fondation Pierre Bergé, and by Bob Wilson, who also brought in Urs Schoenbaum, Bob Wilson's lighting designer. The choreography is by Régis Obadia, the important contemporary choreographer and co-founder of the new French dance, who won the Masque d'or for the ballet "Le Sacre du Printemps" in Moscow and who founded the famous national choreographic centers in Le Havre and realized in Angers. All that was missing then was a top-tier fashion house to dress Patricia. The choice fell on Lanvin and its timeless modernity, embodied by Alber Elbaz. United in this project, all the participants concocted a passionate show, an ode to elegance and to this music that we love so much. Guided by a great desire to please her audience, Patricia presented this show on stage. A show constituted an unprecedented ephemeral event, since the CD featuring the tracks created on stage would not be released until spring 2009.
