After the reign of Christoph Eschenbach, the new conductor of the Orchestre de Paris, Paavo Järvi, will take office on September 15, 2010, for no less than 7 end-of-year concerts at the head of his new orchestra at the Salle Pleyel. Virgin Classics, already the publisher of numerous projects with Paavo Järvi with other orchestras, will continue its collaboration but this time with the famous Parisian orchestra. The first recording to be released will be dedicated to a French program centered around Bizet, including 2 masterpieces, the Symphony in C and Jeux d'enfants, which have led some to say that Bizet was a sort of French Schubert, as his too-short orchestral output is marked by melodic invention, stylistic elegance, and emotion that are very close. In addition, a rarer work, Roma or "memories of Rome," composed in the 1860s-1870s. A great recording of masterpieces of French music, which reminds us that there is more to Bizet's work than just Carmen.
