owen-pallett_has-a-good-home_2023_son
Has a Good Home
Expanded and remastered reissue of his early catalog including the albums 'Has A Good Home' & 'He Poos Clouds', and the EPs 'Spectrum, 14th Century' & 'Plays To Please'.
Owen Pallett built his reputation on his stage virtuosity, as a violinist for many Toronto bands (including Arcade Fire), and then with his solo project. Has a Good Home serves as an introduction (and includes several of his most famous songs), and the follow-up He Poos Clouds is a string quartet album based on Dungeons & Dragons School of Magic, which received the first Polaris Music Prize.
The first EP that followed, Spectrum, 14th Century, is a "prequel" to Pallett's famous album, Heartland, which takes place in the same fictional world as Spectrum. Owen Pallett explains: "When I realized Heartland was going to be a 'fantasy' album, I imagined the Spectrum EP would serve as a campaign map, as you would find in the opening pages of a fantasy novel."
The second EP, Plays to Please, is a tribute to Van Dyke Parks' arrangement style, and is Owen Pallett's first foray into full orchestral production. In the spirit of Nilsson Plays Newman, it is a collection of interpretations of the works of songwriter Alex Lukashevsky.
