OSS, what is it? Who is it? It's a duo made up of Alex Paterson (The Orb) – godfather of ambient electronica – and his long-time friend Fil Le Gonidec. Fil contributed to the albums "FFWD", "Orbus Terrarum", "Bicycles & Tricycles", "Orblivion" and "Orbsessions Volume 1". He has played live with The Orb on several occasions and has also released industrial techno under the name Autolump. An acronym for Orb Sound System (a half DJ, half live version of the band), the duo has performed at Glastonbury, Fuji Rock, and opened for Kraftwerk. The sudden halt of touring pushed them into the studio, and here is the result. Other guests on the album include Michael Rendall, the other official half of The Orb, as well as Jah Wobble, Roger Eno and George Holt, who has worked with Depeche Mode and Erasure, among others.
