Description
Formed in 1942, the Brazilian vocal group Os Cariocas quickly distinguished themselves with their intricate four- or five-part arrangements. They became the most iconic vocal group in bossa nova after recording Jobim and Vinicius’ “Chega de Saudade” in 1957, with João Gilberto on guitar (included here at the end of side A). They then participated in several major bossa nova events, blending rhythms and melodies with modern jazz harmonies.
