{"product_id":"orcutt-shelley-miller-yow_hot-head-a-man-needs-a-maid_2026_dif","title":"Hot Head A Man Needs A Maid","description":"Orcutt Shelley Miller and legendary singer David Yow of The Jesus Lizard join forces for a wild interpretation of Captain Beefheart's \"Hot Head,\" with a B-side of Neil Young's \"A Man Needs A Maid.\" This track, performed by Orcutt Shelley Miller, will be released as a digital EP on April 7 and as a 7-inch vinyl on May 29 via Silver Current Records.\n\nFollowing their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, released in 2025, Orcutt Shelley Miller returns with a 7-inch EP featuring two unexpected covers and a perfectly suited vocal contribution from David Yow on Beefheart's \"Hot Head.\"\n\nEthan Miller, known for his vocal performances in bands like Howlin Rain and Comets On Fire, delivers an intimate and deeply fragile vocal performance on OSM's cinematic version of Neil Young's \"A Man Needs A Maid.\"\n\nRegarding the genesis of \"Hot Head,\" Ethan Miller, OSM's bassist, explains: \"Beefheart is without a doubt one of our main points of convergence, as Bill would say, for OSM. Bill was playing the riff from 'Hot Head' and incorporating it into the heart of one of our songs with a similar tempo, on certain nights of the tour.\" Miller continues: \"We kept exploring it, over and over, until it became a song in its own right, integrated into another piece! David Yow and Steve were old friends, and David seemed like the ideal person to finalize the track and handle the vocals. David is one of the pillars who help perpetuate Beefheart's musical legacy, within and beyond the alternative music of the 90s and 2000s. In my opinion, this explosive mix of sonic complexity and visceral, primal expression is at the heart of David and The Jesus Lizard's power, as it is also for Orcutt Shelley Miller. Beefheart carved the template for this musical dynamic in stone.\"\n\nRegarding Beefheart, David Yow states: \"I am extremely grateful to Don Van Vliet and his work, both visual and musical, but no more than I am to OSM. That might be true, it might not be.\"\n\nThe B-side cover of Neil Young's \"A Man Needs A Maid\" originated from a request by Uncut magazine: OSM was supposed to quickly produce a Neil Young cover for a compilation. Ethan then asked Bill, via text message, which song he deemed appropriate. Bill replied: \"A Man Needs A Maid.\" Later, Bill confessed to the band that he was joking, but since he hadn't grasped the tone of the conversation, Ethan quickly sent him basic tracks of acoustic guitar, vocals, and strings. Bill and Steve then added their electric guitars and percussion to finalize the track.","brand":"Orcutt Shelley Miller Yow","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57178215973208,"sku":null,"price":20260619.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/0769152435978.jpg?v=1777070549","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/orcutt-shelley-miller-yow_hot-head-a-man-needs-a-maid_2026_dif","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
