Description

The third installment of the Europa project: Through its various movements and experiments during the 20th century (electroacoustic music, electronic music) led by its pioneers and leading figures - Luciano Berio, Luigi Nono, Fausto Romitelli - Italy and its capital provide a remarkable playground for exploring the realms of contemporary music. An atypical project and a unique experience for the ONJ, which Olivier Benoit entrusted to the French composer Benjamin de la Fuente and the Italian Andrea Agostini, two contemporary composers in love with Rome, who reflect a current of contemporary music with an unconventional approach: the use of diverse musical materials, a strong focus on performance. An important challenge for both musicians and composers, which fosters a certain innovation and originality in the treatment of sound, timbres, rhythms, and group dynamics. Through two original pieces specially written for the orchestra, Benjamin de la Fuente and Andrea Agostini present their very personal vision of Rome, imbued with memories, awakened emotions, and an intimate relationship with the city. Two contrasting works, oscillating between electrifying flights, relentless orchestral masses, and melancholic, minimalist passages where improvisations and rock explosions are welcome. Europa Rome, a program that undoubtedly blurs the lines of musical genre.
