Description
We open and crown this new opus signed by ORA, with two different adaptations of the psalm Miserere mei (Psalm 50, Vulgate). Many Christian authors have drawn inspiration from this text over the centuries, notably the influential Jerome Savonarola: it is to his exceptional work that we dedicate the majority of this record. This meditation, Infelix Ego, written by Savonarola shortly before his execution, is the central pillar of this recording. We present it here through the remarkable motet by William Byrd as well as the new commissioned work by the Latvian composer Eriks Esenvalds.
