Rock Creek Park

Description

Rock Creek Park is, and has always been, one of my favorite places in Washington, D.C. It has this ability to evolve with you and adapt to every stage of your life. When I was younger, I skipped stones there, rode my bike, and invented adventures in the woods. As a teenager, I played basketball, hosted barbecues with friends, and strolled there with my girlfriends. As an adult, it's my shortcut into the city, the fastest route between Silver Spring and Georgetown. One thing is certain: it is and will always be my haven of peace. Listening to "Rock Creek Park" by the Black Byrds inspired an entire album dedicated to the park and my relationship with it. If the park had a soundtrack, what would it be? What is the sound of a walk along its trails? What is the sound of driving on its narrow, tree-lined roads? This album is my interpretation of Rock Creek Park through breakbeat rhythms and live-played instruments.
