A shared love for words, melodies, and people, and the desire to give them a voice in song. That’s what brought together the people who created "Nos Marins."
Florent Vintrigner (La Rue Kétanou) had long wanted to write a repertoire of sea shanties. What better way to do it than alongside fishermen? He knows some, they are in Omonville-la-Rogue in the Cotentin. He had already met these fishermen with his band when writing the song "Le Capitaine de la Barrique."
Paul d'Amour suggested initiating the "Nos Marins" project. They brought along Pierre Luquet and the Cherbourg photographer and videographer François Dourlen. Florent would write the lyrics, Paul and Pierre would handle the music, all while interacting with the fishermen. This was followed by the recording of the songs in Fermanville, also amidst the fishermen.
This adventure resulted in fourteen songs and a book.
Filled with all these encounters, they now come to us to whisper the sea, its fishermen, and their daily lives into our ears.
A book of photos and text, available in bookstores, visually illustrates this album.
