Nipsey Hussle emerged from Los Angeles with a series of underground mixtapes, and in a few years became a respected rapper close to his communities. In 2018, he released his debut album Victory Lap, featuring guests such as YG, Puff Daddy, Kendrick Lamar, The Dream, Cee Lo Green and others. Climbing into the TOP 5 Billboard, and earning a nomination for a Grammy for Best Rap Album, Nipsey Hussle was at the peak of his career when he was assassinated in 2019. After his death, a wave of public support pushed 5 of his songs into the Billboard 200.
